KEYSTONE OPPORTUNITY CENTER HOSTS
SOUP NIGHT TO BENEFIT
INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK

The community is invited to attend the Keystone Opportunity Center Soup Night on Thursday, November 17 from 5:30-7:30p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Perkasie. As part of Keystone’s recognition of national “Hunger and Homelessness Week,” the goal of Soup Night is to raise awareness of these issues in the Bucks and Montgomery county area where the services provided by Keystone Opportunity Center help meet the needs of local families.

The Soup Night meal will include soup, bread, salad, dessert and beverage for $5.00 per person. Guests may arrive any time between 5:30-7:30p.m. for the meal. All proceeds raised will benefit the Inter-Faith Hospitality Network(IHN). This program involves local churches who partner with Keystone to shelter homeless individuals and families in their church facilities at night, while Keystone social workers counsel the families at the IHN Day Center during daytime hours. The  90-day shelter program serves households in Bucks and Montgomery.

At present The IHN program includes 32 churches and has been serving the area since 1990. So far in 2011, 16 households ( 51 people)  were assisted by the program. Of these 51 persons, 50 % were school age children and 25% were under age 5. Children are the largest growing population of homeless in the country.

Join Keystone Opportunity Center at the Soup Night and learn more about how hunger and homelessness impact the local area and find out about ways to help address these needs. Interested soup-makes can visit www.keystoneopportunity.org for recipes to make and bring to the Soup Night event.
Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 19 South Fifth Street, Perkasie, PA. For more information about the Soup Night and Keystone Opportunity Center, contact Brenda Oelschlager- 215-723-5430x121
