SCROLL DOWN FOR THANKSGIVING
AND HOLIDAY DONOR FORMS

November-December 2011

Dear Holiday Giver:

Thank you for wanting to reach out to help Keystone families during this holiday season.  We are matching more than 200 families with donors again this year!  This giving tradition which began with Indian Valley Opportunity Center many years ago has become part of Keystone Opportunity Center’s mission to help struggling community members become self-sufficient. With that end goal in mind, the Holiday Assistance program includes elements of education and accountability for our clients as we work to teach them how to manage finances and value traditions during this special season.

NEW HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS FOR CLIENTS

We have integrated our Holiday Assistance with other services, restricting it to families already being served through our Food Pantry, Community Case Management, Transitional Housing, and Hospitality Network homeless shelter programs.  To qualify for assistance, interested clients must register for and attend a Holiday Workshop presented by our case management team. The workshop will include topics such as “Holiday Traditions,” “Budgeting and Money Management" and assistance with completing the Family Wish List for distribution to donors.

GIFT GUIDELINES

Because Keystone’s purpose is to encourage and empower people to become self-sufficient, we want to provide for our clients in ways that will best benefit them.  Whether it is food, gift cards, or Christmas presents, what we give is intended to supplement what people can do for themselves.  Particularly during the holidays, we are not taking the place of the joy of parents and children giving what they can to each other.  Please follow our gift guidelines and client requests so your gifts can be an encouragement and support for our families! Remember that their gift list may inclue basic necessities-a true gift for fmilies in need

GIVING TREE GIFTS PROVIDE HELP YEAR ROUND

We welcome contributions to our “Christmas Giving Tree,” in addition to the family match gifts because we will be sheltering, housing, and assisting new families in need throughout the year.  Our most urget needs are $25 gift cards to Giant, Landis, and Hennings Supermarkets, Walmart and  Wawa cards which we restrict for gas. You may also contribute tree ornaments to share with our clients.

Other ways you can help Keystone better serve our community include organizing a fundraising event or participating in any of the Keystone planned events during the year, inviting others to participate and contribute to Keystone, or helping at planned work project.  Call Keystone at 215-723-5430 for additional information.

Thank you again for your generosity!
