Keystone Opportunity Center's tutoring program provides educational assistance in English as a Second Language and Literacy.
Adult volunteers provide individual tutoring tailored to each student’s needs. Improved reading abilities can help with better employment and income opportunities for families.
Volunteer Tutors Needed!
Adults in the community interested in working with Keystone’s ESL and/or Literacy students participate in six hours of training given by Tutors of Literacy in the Commonwealth or should have teaching experience. Keystone asks that interested volunteers be willing to give 50 hours of tutoring time in one program year to our students. Tutors can work one-on-one, with pairs or in small groups. Tutors meet with students at local libraries, churches, or other public places for tutoring sessions. Prior to being matched with a student(s), tutors meet with Keystone’s tutor coordinator, who provides information on the student’s needs along with texts and recommendations for lessons.
If you would like to help by becoming a tutor volunteer, contact Olga Boswell at 215-723-5430, ext. 217.
